Real Performance Report

For everyday savers · 401(k)s · IRAs · brokerage accounts

Your benchmark is free. Show me what I got for the fee.

Find out whether your financial advisor is worth what you pay. You get one letter grade and one dollar figure, compared with a simple, low-cost index portfolio. No jargon, and no investing knowledge needed.

We're running a small, free pilot now. Sign up to take part or to hear when we launch. No advisor or financial firm pays us, ever. Real Performance Report is not an investment adviser, does not give investment advice and does not manage money.

YOUR REAL PERFORMANCE REPORTEXAMPLE
D
You paid $16,600 in fees over 5 years.
A simple index portfolio would have left you $8,800 ahead.

Trust check: ✔ No disciplinary record found · ⚠ Paid partly by commissions
Ask your advisor: “What do I get for about $3,300 a year that an index fund wouldn't give me?”

Every name and number here is invented to show the layout. It measures what happened; it is not a recommendation to buy, sell or change advisors.

Radically simple

Two answers. Under a minute.

Most people can't judge investment returns, and they shouldn't have to. Everyone understands “you paid $X, and a simple index fund would have left you $Y ahead.”

One grade, two pillars

Does your account fit your goals, and did what you paid for beat a simple index portfolio after every fee? We grade both, A to F.

One dollar figure

Every fee you paid, added up in dollars, and how far ahead or behind you are compared with an index portfolio.

A trust check

Clean, Caution or Warning, based on public SEC, FINRA and CFP Board records, plus how your advisor is paid.

Your goals, at a glance

Tell us what the money is for. The Fit check shows, goal by goal, whether your account lines up, and whether your advisor meets our standard of a personal check-in every month. You get symbols and plain words, so you don't have to read anything into the colors.

EXAMPLE

2 of 3 goals line up. Your college money is too risky for a 2-year need, and your advisor hasn't checked in for 3 months.

Why it matters

Small fees, big dollars.

Your advisor is usually measured against an index. Index funds that track it cost very little. So the fair question is what you got for the difference.

Independent by design

We work for the saver. Full stop.

  • No referral fees, commissions or revenue share from any advisor, broker, insurer or fund company we grade.
  • Advisors claim and respond to their profiles for free, and never pay us anything. They can't pay to change a grade, rank higher, or hide or remove a review.
  • You pay for the service, so we work for you.
  • We publish our method, label how confident each grade is, and fix mistakes fast.
  • We show you what happened and the questions to ask. The decisions stay with you.

What we are not

Real Performance Report is not an investment adviser or financial advisor, and we don't manage money or sell investments. “Performance” means we measure what your account actually did after fees; it is not a promise of returns. We won't tell you to buy, sell or fire anyone. We give you a clear, factual picture, so the conversation with your advisor starts from the facts.
